Our mission is to promote and protect human rights, advance equality and justice, and contribute to peaceful, inclusive societies where the dignity and fundamental rights of every individual are respected.
We pursue this mission through independent human rights monitoring, credible documentation, research, advocacy, community empowerment, and strategic partnerships.
Guided by the principles of universality, impartiality, non-discrimination, and accountability, we seek to strengthen the ability of individuals and communities to understand, exercise, and defend their rights, with particular attention to those facing discrimination, exclusion, and heightened protection risks.
We are committed to connecting community experiences with evidence-based advocacy and relevant human rights mechanisms, while promoting solidarity, civic participation, and collective responsibility.
How We Pursue Our Mission
Human Rights Monitoring and Documentation
We monitor and document alleged human rights violations and abuses using credible sources, appropriate verification methods, and responsible information-management practices.
We seek to produce reliable evidence while respecting the safety, dignity, confidentiality, and informed consent of victims, survivors, witnesses, and other information sources.
Community Empowerment
We promote human rights awareness and support individuals and communities in developing the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to understand, exercise, and defend their rights.
We place particular emphasis on meaningful participation and capacity-building among women, young people, and communities facing discrimination or marginalization.
Advocacy and Accountability
We advocate for the protection of fundamental rights, the prevention of violations, and access to justice and effective remedies.
Through responsible documentation, public engagement, and cooperation with relevant institutions and mechanisms, we support independent investigations and appropriate accountability processes.
Research and Legal Analysis
We undertake research, studies, surveys, and legal analysis to identify human rights challenges, examine protection gaps, and inform evidence-based advocacy and policy recommendations.
Our research seeks to contribute to public understanding, institutional reform, and the development of more effective human rights protection measures.
Coordination and Network‑Building
We foster cooperation among human rights defenders, civil society organizations, grassroots initiatives, research institutions, and national and international partners.
By encouraging knowledge-sharing, coordination, and collective action, we seek to strengthen human rights initiatives and amplify the voices of affected communities.
Our Current Focus
Our current activities focus primarily on Sudan and communities affected by its human rights and humanitarian crises, including Sudanese communities in the diaspora.
Based in Norway, we seek to strengthen connections between community-level experiences and relevant Norwegian, regional, and international human rights institutions and networks.
Our commitment to universal human rights also provides a foundation for future cooperation and initiatives in other contexts, consistent with our organizational mandate, capacity, and strategic priorities
